Retirement Announcement from ThinkFirst

Debby Gerhardstein, former Executive Director of ThinkFirst Nation Injury Prevention Foundation, retires after 25 years with the organization.  She was originally a chapter director at Central DuPage Hospital – now Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage for 13 years from 1994 – 2007 and has been the Executive Director from 2007 – 2019. Traumatic injury is the leading cause of death children, teens and young adults as well as older adults and most injuries are preventable. Brain and spinal cord injuries are among the most devastating, leading to permanent disability and death for all age groups and primary prevention and education is key. Debby has served the public advocating, developing and distributing effecting injury prevention education programs to reduce injuries and fatalities for the past quarter century on average there are 6,000 presentations given by ThinkFirst Chapters across the country and 500,000 attendees or 150,000 presentations and 12.5 million attendees during her tenure. We are thankful for her dedication to ThinkFirst and injury prevention and wish her all the best in retirement.
